Can you still reminisce?

Can you still reminisce…..?
By Gamson Jr Mawallil Quijano

This is our house in Jolo, Sulu where I happily grew up and spent many precious memories with my family and loved ones.

Can you still reminisce.....

The time that you were a toddler and together with your treasured family in one place you called "HOME"?

The time that when it’s time to eat, you will happily eat all together in one table with your parents, siblings and other members of the family. Enjoying the simple viands being prepared by your mother?

The time that you sleep side by side with your mother, father and siblings and sometimes with your grandparents in one mattress or sleeping mat protected with a "KULAMBU" or mosquito net?

The time that when Ramadhan comes, you excitingly prepare food for Iftar and Sahur, going to masjid for Tarawi. As well as during Eid, you will go to a nearby masjid all together to pray and return home merrily celebrating it?

The time, when you will go to school and return home, you can always see your beloved family and loved-ones?

The time that when you are wounded from falling down while playing outside, your mother will hastily nurse you with utmost passion and care?

The time that when vacation period, you will go to beach for a family bonding. All of you gaily laughed as you were telling hilarious stories and interacting with one another at that moment?

The time that when it rained, your mother would tell you, ‘just stay home and sleep’. And when you wake up, there is hot champorado prepared by your mother for merienda?

The time that you will go with your mother to go to a market to buy food then you see a balloon hawked by a man, you would tap your mother’s arm and plead her to buy for you?

As well as, the enjoyable moment you’ve spent with another member of your kin and friends that turned into family for because you have always seen them as family.

Well, I really do. Isn’t it nostalgic?

Notwithstanding, as times go by, everything gradually changes.

The complete company of your family, loved-ones and friends become a fraction for whatever reasons.

Sadly, sometimes, it’s hard to unite again as before because some might have indulged in endeavors that require being apart from them, or some might have already perished, among others.

Surely, one day, the unforgettable events of every moment that took place with your family, loved-ones and friends will merely remain just a precious memories to cherish forever.

That when you reminisce it, it will make you feel nostalgic.

That's simply the reality of life. Truly, whatever in it are merely temporary. Time after time, many things might happen.

Always spend your precious time wisely with your beloved as much as possible so that when the times come that you’re no longer with them, you’ve spent it meaningfully.

THE UNFORGETTABLE YOUTH CAMP

THE UNFORGETTABLE YOUTH CAMP By MSA-UZ Member The youth camp is one of the most effective methods for the Islamic training of young potential leaders. Thus, as an official youth organization in our most beloved academe, we wish to contribute more to the welfare of the university in pursuit for peace and development even just in our humble capacity despite the hectic schedule as college students. We apprehended that in order to gain the aforementioned matters, we must first discipline ourselves along with our co-MSA-UZ fellows in an Islamic arena. Consequently, after a long patient and persistent preparation on the proposed plan for the mini Youth Camp, finally, the MSA-UZ held its 1st time ever youth camp with the THEME of “ISLAMIC BROTHERHOOD: HOW TO ATTAIN IT” at Puerto Villa Beach Resort, Patalon, Zamboanga City last April 10-11, 2009. The activity was peacefully opened by the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by the former MSA-UZ President Alhusin Muhammad. It continu...

Simple Kindness by 2 Muslim-Tausug Cops of Sulu

Simple Kindness by 2 Muslim-Tausug Cops of Sulu By Gamson Jr Mawallil Quijano  This story was published on Mindanews.com  https://www.mindanews.com/mindaviews/2021/06/tausug-in-doha-simple-kindness-by-2-muslim-tausug-cops-from-sulu/ A great story is always worth telling, because it can inspire others to do the same. On Monday, 08 June 2021, one post on Facebook caught my attention. It is a story of the kind-gesture done to a 60-year-old man by one junior member of the Philippine National Police, who happens to be my younger brother, Pat. Mohammad Alsarif Mawallil Quijano-- a Muslim-Tausug cop currently assigned in Oriental Mindoro. He also belongs to the Tulawie Clan of Sulu.  My heart was elated  by reading the post because he is my younger brother and he makes me so proud of him. He has displayed the true sense of being one of the best examples of a true Muslim who is always kindhearted and humble to anyone not just to someone or a special few....

DEFENSE OF MUSLIMAT FORTRESS: NO DEARTH OF LAWS, ONLY DEATH

By: Neocatalyst “There is no dearth of laws, but there is death of laws,” commented Warina Sushil A. Jukuy, Coordinator for Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA-WESMIN) . She said that there is no dearth of laws, memoranda, issuances, department orders and yet disrespect for the right to wear hijab as a sign of piety prevails. I personally resonate with her observation that strict compliance of hijab legal guidance is actually met with outright defiance by personnel of the very agencies that issued them. Could this non-compliance be due to unprofessionalism, discrimination or mere ignorance? Recent reported cases of disallowing the right to hijab are happening not only in hospitals, schools, universities, colleges, but are also either fully violated (mandatory removal of hijab) or partially violated (requiring ears exposure) as photo requirements in government agencies such as the Civil Service Commission (CSC), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) a...
