Speech of Amier Hassan Tan

Welcome speech of my paternal cousin, Amier Hassan Tan, during the Taekwondo Belting Ceremony Program held in Dammam, KSA.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahiim...

In the Name of Almighty God, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuhu…..

What can be more beautiful and perfect than the universal greetings for all mankind…..

The Peace of Almighty GOD, His Mercy and His Blessings be upon us all today….

Honorable guests….fellow taekwondo colleagues, ladies and gentlemen….. GOOD AFTERNOON

As we gather this afternoon in this place to witness this momentous occasion, allow me to express my pride and joy of giving salute and honor to our beloved parents who struggle and sacrifice for the sake of our dreams despite their extremely hectic schedules as OFWs. They tirelessly nurtured us to become responsible children of society. You are indeed our inspirations in every step that we shall take in our lives.

Notably, I want as well to give honor to our instructors who patiently molded us in this noble endeavor of Taekwondo. I know just like our beloved parents, you are also busy professionals. However, it did not in anyway became a reason for you not to give full time to perfectly train us day by day. Martial arts is so much more than just kicking and punching. The life skills you taught as a daily part of our classes help us--your children grow into responsible young adults.

Furthermore, allow me to share to you this information. Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, said a strong believer was better than a weak believer.[ Saheeh Muslim]

He was talking in terms of faith and character but also indicating that physical strength i.e. optimum health and fitness were desirable, providing God gave us the ways and means of attaining such strength.

A true believer of Islamic Faith recognizes the wonder of the human body and is grateful to the Creator. This gratitude is shown in the care and attention given to maintaining optimum health. Islam’s holistic approach to health covers all aspects of the mind, body and soul. A truly health conscious person blends diet, nutrition and exercise with the remembrance of God and an intention to fulfill all their religious obligations.

Again, thank you my beloved parents and mentors for collaboratively nurturing us to become well-rounded and responsible children of your society. I heartily express deep gratitude for your untiring effort and assistance extended to me during the course of my Taekwondo journey.

Thanks for coming everyone and welcome to our Taekwondo belting Ceremony Program.

May Allaah bless us all.

"NOT MERELY UZ, EVEN MALACAÑANG HAS NO POLICY PROHIBITING NIQAB"

By: Neocatalyst Late UZ President and CEO who succinctly declared that  “UZ HAS NO POLICY PROHIBITING NIQAB” Via email message dated May 27, 2010, Thursday in response to our lobby on Right to Education as well as Right to Freedom of Religion within the university, the late President and CEO of Universidad de Zamboanga Sir ARTURO "Ammar" EUSTAQUIO III , positively responded thru a succinct declaration that he has made:     “UZ HAS NO POLICY PROHIBITING NIQAB”.   Thus, it is both ironic and unreasonable that a certain niqaabi who was supposed to enroll at Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) WAS ALLOWED to take the entrance examinations thereat WITHOUT being asked to take off her niqaab; yet, when she passed said exams with highest scores, she was allegedly IMPEDED TO ENROLL by the Pharmacy Department just because she wears niqaab. The said incident transpired today 14 May 2012, Monday at UZ. “One of our sisters named Sitti Ridzka Muktader called me thr

THE UNFORGETTABLE YOUTH CAMP

THE UNFORGETTABLE YOUTH CAMP By MSA-UZ Member The youth camp is one of the most effective methods for the Islamic training of young potential leaders. Thus, as an official youth organization in our most beloved academe, we wish to contribute more to the welfare of the university in pursuit for peace and development even just in our humble capacity despite the hectic schedule as college students. We apprehended that in order to gain the aforementioned matters, we must first discipline ourselves along with our co-MSA-UZ fellows in an Islamic arena. Consequently, after a long patient and persistent preparation on the proposed plan for the mini Youth Camp, finally, the MSA-UZ held its 1st time ever youth camp with the THEME of “ISLAMIC BROTHERHOOD: HOW TO ATTAIN IT” at Puerto Villa Beach Resort, Patalon, Zamboanga City last April 10-11, 2009. The activity was peacefully opened by the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by the former MSA-UZ President Alhusin Muhammad. It continu
