Inspirational Speech of Khawtar Tan Hassan

Khawtar in red with her two siblings, Amier and Nashrum

Inspirational Speech of Khawtar Tan Hassan during her Black Belting Ceremony held in Dammam, KSA.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahiim...

Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu…..

Honorable guests….fellow taekwondo colleagues, ladies, and gentlemen….. GOOD AFTERNOON!

On this momentous occasion, I express my pride and joy to give salute and honor to our beloved parents who struggle and sacrifice for the sake of our dreams despite their extremely hectic schedules as OFWs. They tirelessly nurtured us to become responsible children of society. You are indeed our inspiration in every step that we shall take in our lives.

As an innocent kid, our room is our play area with my brother, Anya Amier. He's my elder brother, my first playmate and my best friend.

When my precious parents admitted my Anya Amier to Taekwondo school, I always accompanied them to send off my brother to the Taekwondo center.

I witnessed how much my elder brother enjoyed his new interesting and engaging hobby where he also found new playmates, too. I was so fascinated by it that I thought I could play it, too.

Because my Inah and Amah want me to be equally happy as my Anya Amier, they admitted me also to a Taekwondo school. Honestly, before, I don't know what this Taekwondo is. I thought it was a kid's kitchen game or Barbie dolls. I didn’t expect that this is a martial art sport that requires attentiveness and personal discipline.

I confess that in the middle of my journey to Taekwondo, I suddenly lost all interest because I did not understand its importance. Alhamdu Lillaahi, I am so grateful that I have relentless parents to support me and lift me to the end.

They gradually explained to me the worth of Taekwondo until I understood it perfectly. They encouraged me to keep going until I began to love this noble sport.

I was then a 5-year-old little girl when I started to climb to the hill of Taekwondo and it's been 5 years now. What a polychrome Taekwondo journey I have had in these 5 years.

Belts of white, yellow, blue, red, and brown colors have been placed around my waist, which signifies that I have successfully passed every hardship that I’ve been through in this noble martial art sport.

Every kick and punch that I do, always invigorates me mentally, physically, and emotionally. This martial art sport has developed my self-discipline, self-confidence, self-defense, interpersonal skills, determination, respect for elders and everyone, and many more.

Inah, Amah, Anya Amier, and to my youngest brother Nashrum, on this auspicious occasion, I dedicate to each of you the black belt that I am going to wear today as a junior black belt carrier.

I considered Taekwondo the only martial arts sport that I will keep forever in my heart, even if I grow old. Why? Because you, my most precious parents, who struggle and sacrifice for the sake of our dreams despite your extremely hectic schedules as OFWs are the ones who planted the value of this into our hearts. It's always going to be the most important puzzle of our childhood.

Before I conclude, to our honorable instructors who patiently molded us in this noble endeavor of Taekwondo despite your busy professionals.. THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU because you've still given your full time to perfectly train us day by day DESPITE THE PANDEMIC. Indeed, martial arts is so much more than just kicking and punching. The life skills you taught as a daily part of our classes help us--your children grow into responsible young adults.

May Allāh always keep US ALL including  our beloved families, loved ones -- so ever be protected and safeguarded by Him at all times from the harm of COVID-19 and any natural or man-made catastrophes wherever we may be. Aamin.

"NOT MERELY UZ, EVEN MALACAÑANG HAS NO POLICY PROHIBITING NIQAB"

By: Neocatalyst Late UZ President and CEO who succinctly declared that  “UZ HAS NO POLICY PROHIBITING NIQAB” Via email message dated May 27, 2010, Thursday in response to our lobby on Right to Education as well as Right to Freedom of Religion within the university, the late President and CEO of Universidad de Zamboanga Sir ARTURO "Ammar" EUSTAQUIO III , positively responded thru a succinct declaration that he has made:     “UZ HAS NO POLICY PROHIBITING NIQAB”.   Thus, it is both ironic and unreasonable that a certain niqaabi who was supposed to enroll at Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) WAS ALLOWED to take the entrance examinations thereat WITHOUT being asked to take off her niqaab; yet, when she passed said exams with highest scores, she was allegedly IMPEDED TO ENROLL by the Pharmacy Department just because she wears niqaab. The said incident transpired today 14 May 2012, Monday at UZ. “One of our sisters named Sitti Ridzka Muktader call...

DEFENSE OF MUSLIMAT FORTRESS: NO DEARTH OF LAWS, ONLY DEATH

By: Neocatalyst “There is no dearth of laws, but there is death of laws,” commented Warina Sushil A. Jukuy, Coordinator for Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA-WESMIN) . She said that there is no dearth of laws, memoranda, issuances, department orders and yet disrespect for the right to wear hijab as a sign of piety prevails. I personally resonate with her observation that strict compliance of hijab legal guidance is actually met with outright defiance by personnel of the very agencies that issued them. Could this non-compliance be due to unprofessionalism, discrimination or mere ignorance? Recent reported cases of disallowing the right to hijab are happening not only in hospitals, schools, universities, colleges, but are also either fully violated (mandatory removal of hijab) or partially violated (requiring ears exposure) as photo requirements in government agencies such as the Civil Service Commission (CSC), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) a...
